‘He’s Just a Beast’ – Leylah Fernandez Wants to Switch Places with Cristiano Ronaldo for a Day

Leylah Fernandez may be only 19 years old, but the Canadian has burst onto the big stage. She made headlines when she reached the US Open finals last year. En route to the final, she defeated some big names in the form of defending champion Naomi Osaka, former World Number 1 Angelique Kerber, and second seed Aryna Sabalenka.

Recently, the Tennis Channel interviewed the teenage tennis star. Further, she has picked up a footballing legend with whom she would like to swap places.

Leylah Fernandez wants to switch places with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner

The interviewer asked the Canadian starlet, “Someone you’d switch places with for a day.” Leylah replied, “Oh, Cristiano Ronaldo.”

Further, the interviewer asked her the reason for picking Cristiano. She said with a smile, “He’s just a beast off the court, on the court or the soccer field I mean. So I just want to switch places to see how he manages everything.” Chiefly, Leylah wanted to learn from a champion like Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo is often compared to Lionel Messi in the ‘GOAT’ debate in football. The Portuguese star is the all-time leading scorer in international football. Chiefly, he has an astonishing 800+ career goals. Also, he is the only player to have won five UEFA Champions League titles.

The star forward is currently plying his trade for Manchester United. However, he hasn’t been in the top form this season as we are used to seeing. Moreover, the Red Devils are out of the title race in EPL and are currently stationed at the fourth position, 20 points adrift from their city rivals.

How has Leylah performed this season?

The 19-year-old has had a disappointing start to the 2022 season. She started this season at the Adelaide International 1 tournament. However, she lost tamely in the second round to Iga Swiatek in straight sets. Further, the Canadian had a dismal Australian Open campaign. She lost in the opening round to wildcard Maddison Inglis.
