The coaching debate surrounding Coco Gauff has been the talk for ages now. After being eliminated early in Wimbledon, pressure mounted on the 19-year-old American prodigy given the stature that she holds. Post that underwhelming run, she decided to part ways with her coach. In the interview, Coco went forward and dismissed the claims that said her father is her current coach. She said that he is just her father and nothing else. He might occasionally help out somewhere but at the end of the day, she clarified that her coaching staff works on her progress.

“My dad isn’t – he’s just my dad. He sometimes sends scouting reports, just a little bit, but yeah, he’s not doing anything with the tennis. He may shout something because that’s just parents. But, yeah, he’s not helping me with the tennis pretty much at all at this point. I think two people is enough. He’s just dad. He’s not here this week. But he will be. All he will be doing is taking care of my string and my grips and being a dad.” said Gauff when asked about her father.

I’m trying to get through it too (smiling),” revealed Gauff in the same interview.
