Serena Williams talked about black fathers
Both Serena and Venus were at the Oscars to support their film ‘King Richard,’ and to support Will Smith, the lead actor. During that event, an interviewer asked him about black fatherhood in general. In reply, Serena said, “Fatherhood, especially black fatherhood… It also reaches on the notes that you don’t get to see. You get to see a lot of black fathers portrayed in a different light, and it’s like that’s not always the narrative.”
“Yeah, it happens, but it happens there in every race, but you know it was really good to see a different portrayal of a black father.”

So, it’s like everyone has, you know, ups and downs but for a reason, as black fathers have always been portrayed differently, African-Americans in particular.”
