‘Still Crying’ – Venus Williams Reacts as Will Smith Posts an Emotional Message on Instagram After Winning the Best Actor Award at SAG Awards

Sports drama movie, ‘King Richard’ is one of the most talked-about movies in the recent past. The story about Serena and Venus Williams’ father, Richard Williams, touched many hearts. Actor Will Smith did an incredible job portraying Richard Williams.
Actor Aunjanue Ellis, who portrayed Oracene Price, the mother of the Williams sisters, also received massive praise from critics and fans. At SAG Awards (Screen Actors Guild Awards) 2022, Will Smith won the award for the best actor in a leading role, and Venus Williams is still in disbelief as she reacted on social media. 

Venus Williams reacts after Will Smith’s emotional speech

Recently, Will Smith won his first-ever SAG award as the best male actor in a leading role. After the award, Smith gave a powerful speech while trying to hold back his emotions.

“Thank You all. That may have been one of the greatest moments of my career just now because my name was called for King Richard sitting next to Venus Williams… Richard Williams is a dreamer like no one has ever known. He has a power of belief that borders on insanity and sometimes tips over the border, which is absolutely necessary to take something from impossible to possible,” Smith said after winning the award.

Smith also thanked the Williams Sisters and their family for entrusting him with the project. “I just wanna say thank you very much. It was my deepest pleasure to honor your family and to tell your story to the world,” Smith said on the stage. 

On Instagram, the American actor posted some moments of his time at the SAG awards, and in the caption, he wrote, “WOW! So much love to my King Richard family and the hard work y’all put into this beautiful film. Grateful for you… And thanx to the @sagwards.”

After seeing that post, former WTA no.1 tennis player, Venus Williams reacted emotionally on Instagram, as she wrote in her story, “Still Crying.”

King Richard is up for six Oscar nominations

In terms of achievements, the SAG Award win for King Richard may just be the beginning. The movie can bag more awards, as it recently received six Oscar nominations. The nominations included the best film, best actor, best supporting actor, others. 

This is a truly great achievement not only for the film but also for the Williams family. Now, their story can inspire many families from all over the world. Additionally, both the Williams Sisters showed their tremendous happiness over the film’s success.
