Venus Williams has had a phenomenal rise to the elite group of tennis. The 41-year-old established the ‘Williams’ name on the tennis circuit. Over her illustrious career, Venus has won seven Grand Slam singles titles.

Moreover, she has teamed up with her sister Serena to clinch 14 Grand Slam doubles titles. Additionally, the elder Williams sister has won four gold medals at the Olympics, three with her sister and one in singles.

Richard Williams, her father, played an incredible role in the success of the Williams sisters. He took them to the public tennis courts at a very young age to train them. Recently, a biographic film named ‘King Richard’ was released in honor of him. Recently, Will Smith, who played Richard Williams in the film, won a prestigious award for his role.

Venus Williams gets emotional as Will Smith wins an award at the SAG Awards

The American actor won the ‘Best Male Actor’ award at the SAG Awards for playing Richard Williams in the King Richard film. After receiving the award, he said, “You didn’t agree to put your name on it, so you saw the final project, I agree, I get that. But when I got the call and you watched the movie, and you said you loved it, I jus want to say thank you very much. It was my deepest pleasure to honor your family and tell your story to the world.”

Venus got emotional after Will Smith honored her and his family.

On the tennis front, Venus has been struggling with a leg injury. She hasn’t played for over six months now. The 41-year-old was last seen in action at the WTA Chicago Women’s Open in August last year.
