Every tennis player has a different story to tell before rising on the court. In a similar way, the 29-year-old American tennis player Jessica Pegula had her own journey, going through various competitions to reach where she is today. Starting from how she was once a part of the Challenger tour, becoming a part of the WTA circuit, and making it to the bigger picture.
Just a few days before, the 2023 Canadian Open champion had created chaos and, at the same time, a scare in the tennis world with her outlook on which tour is better: the WTA or the Challenger. But now, the world’s number-one tennis player, Iga Swiatek, has shared her clear take on the same topic, making a surprising admission.

The 22-year-old Polish tennis player, who is considered one of the rising tennis sensations of the WTA world, recently made a clear confession regarding which tour she feels is great for her. She said, “Sometimes the only thing that was hard was, like, I don’t know, finishing a tournament, because you played, I don’t know, semifinal and then playing quallies the same day. That happened I think twice. But overall, it was really quick for me, and I don’t intend to come back. I hope to stay on WTA (smiling).”
Along with that, she also highlighted how she has not been a part of the Challenger Tours for a long time, so she can’t really say the same thing. But on the other hand, she also made her point clear regarding her preference for the WTA tour, in which she is already ranked number one.
However, this all started when, just a few days ago, the 29-year-old American tennis player made a huge comparison between the Challenger Tour and the WTA Tour.

When Jessica Pegula made a strong tennis tour admission
The 29-year-old, after winning her first round during the press conference, stated that it is harder to compete on the Challenger Tour compared to the WTA Tour tournaments. While she herself played a lot of tennis matches before getting into the WTA, somewhere down the line she believes that even though the WTA has tough competition, it’s not as competitive as the other one.
