Iga Swiatek had a remarkable clay court season, claiming her third Roland Garros title and fourth career title. After defeating Karolina Muchova, the 22-year-old Polish tennis star shattered a number of milestones. She cemented her place among tennis greats like Serena Williams and Monica Seles by winning four major championships at just 22 years of age.
But there’s more to it: while the world’s number one was playing the French Open championship match, there was a WTA legend in the stands who witnessed the amazing battle. American tennis legend Chris Evert, who witnessed Swiatek’s brilliance on the court, recently made a major comment on where the three-time French Open champion sits in terms of her Grand Slam hunger.

Chris Evert fires a mature warning at Iga Swiatek
This year, Swiatek had to experience several highs and lows throughout her French Open run; like the peculiar crowd interaction that made her semifinal match with Beatriz Haddad Maia more difficult. However, she overcame such challenges and won her third consecutive French Open title on June 10th, as she reigned supreme on the Parisian clay for a third time in her career.

Seeing the 22-year-old reach glory at such a young age, the 18-time Grand Slam champion lauded the Polish tennis player’s excellent tennis skills in an interview with Eurosport. Along with that, she also gave a maturity warning to Swiatek, stating the harsh reality of the WTA circuit.
She said, “She’s just hungry. There are champions that win one Slam and that’s enough, but there are players that are really hungry—Monica Seles, Steffi Graf, myself, and Martina Navratilova, and I think Iga is the same type of person.”
Not only that, she also shared a part of a conversation that she had with the Polish tennis player after she won the French Open.

Rather than settle, Evert informed Swiatek that she is in for a long haul and that if she can win 7, the Polish tennis player can easily go for 8, 9, or 10 French Open titles. Not only that, the 18-time Grand Slam champion believes that Swiatek is capable of doing much more than what is expected of her.
