Elena Rybakina‘s current performance at the Miami Open has filled fans with the hopes of witnessing a Wimbledon-like performance once again. The tennis star recently secured her spot in the semi-finals by defeating Maria Sakkari in a hard-fought three-setter match. Out of all the things that power her up to dominate, the adorable bond with her coach Stefano Vukov stands at the top.

Besides the coaching sessions, the chemistry between the two has been immense, unveiling notable moments that one can only imagine. Vukov honored his words given to Rybakina by getting her name tattooed on his arm. Fulfilling a bet made during the Qatar Open in 2020, the coach promised that he would take this big step if the 24-year-old ever achieved such a feat.

While it was just a witty conversation back then, little did Vukov know that all of this would turn into a reality. Rybakina, showcasing an exceptional performance at Wimbledon 2022, took down Ons Jabeur in the finals, earning her first-ever grand slam title. This feat not only crowned the 24-year-old as the pride of Kazakhstan but also compelled her coach to plan to get some ink.

Reflecting on the interesting bet, Rybakina expressed surprise, “I already forgot (about the bet) – we were laughing around.” Although it was hard for both of them to believe initially, Vukov kept his word by getting a tattoo of her name as well as the date on which she clinched the title.

Elena Rybakina’s coach acting as a consistent source of ‘energy’

Besides being the hand that has her name embossed on it, Stefano Vukov has also been the source of Elena Rybakina’s unmatchable energy on the court. On being asked about something that the Kazakh always expects from him, Vukov stated, “Energy, definitely. She is very stoic and calm, keeps the emotions inside. Even today, Elena told me that she needs the energy from me.”

Along with that, he also explained the massive need for energy, adding, “Emotions sometimes block you from thinking, especially in important stages of the match. I am glad that the coaching is allowed now, because some details are easier to see from the outside.”

As Ryabakina continues to move ahead with the boost that her coach keeps providing with his presence, the dominance that she depicts on the court is surely a reflection of it.
