‘I Absolutely Love Investing’ – Serena Williams Speaks About Her Passion for Her Firm Serena Ventures

Serena Williams is known for her utter dominance on the tennis court. But she is a lot more than that, she is an entrepreneur, an investor, a philanthropist, and a mother. She has been away from the tour for a while now. Nonetheless, she is busy with her business ventures and was occupied attending various events for the movie ‘King Richard’.

Not only did the movie ‘King Richard’ sweep the awards season, but she has also been working on her fashion line as well as her venture capital firm ‘Serena Ventures’. Recently her firm posted a short video where Serena is talking about her love for investing. They also announced their exciting and new partnership with a company called Carta, which helps people to invest.

Serena Williams speaks about her passion for investing

Speaking about her other passion than tennis, Serena expressed in the video, “The power of equity is that you’re doing this not only for someone else but you’re also doing it for yourself. I absolutely love investing. I always say there’s two things I’m passionate about in life. I mean, obviously outside of my daughter, but one of them is Serena Ventures and I think you can pretty much guess the other one I’m passionate about.”

Williams spoke about her father and how he instilled in them the importance of knowing finances from a young age. Richard Williams, father and long-time coach to both Serena and Venus Williams was aware of how important and necessary it is to grow financially. He recently came into the limelight because of the grand success of the movie based on his life, ‘King Richard’. Will Smith starred as Richard Williams and won the ‘Best Actor’ award at the recently concluded 94th Academy Awards.

“Equity is empowerment.  My dad always said, you’re an athlete. You need to know finances. Also you have to remember when I first started I was 15 I didn’t know how to ask about you know where to put my money and what’s the best place for it to grow,” Serena Williams added.

Serena Williams is a successful businesswoman

Apart from her on-court heroics, Serena Williams is a successful businesswoman. She is the joint founder of her firm ‘Serena Ventures’. She has investments in 66 startup firms through her firm, ‘Serena Ventures’. In 2018, she also launched a direct-to-consumer clothing line, S by Serena. More recently, her venture capital firm raised $111 million to invest in founders having diverse points of view.
