Serena Williams often speaks about mental health. She struggled after welcoming her daughter, Olympia, in 2017. She was also open about how she would cry and have meltdowns sometimes. Hence, she chose to spread more awareness about mental health. Following the same path, the retired tennis star did so once again.
Recently, the 23-time Grand Slam champion gave a surprising update about her mental health, which also serves as a reminder.

The former tennis star and entrepreneur has always been quite expressive about the importance of mental health. Whenever she has had the opportunity, Serena has shared her experience of dealing with high levels of stress and anxiety, during her time as a professional player, a public figure, a wife, a mother, and countless other roles.
Recently, the legend took to Twitter to share a candid message that started with a surprising update to the fans but eventually ended with a note of positivity. She wrote: “I am not ok today. And that’s ok to not be ok. No one is ok every single day. If you are not ok today I’m with you. There’s always tomorrow 😘 Love you.”

Besides sharing regular reminders, Serena also opened up about how she deals with mental health issues in a conversation with singer Selena Gomez earlier this year. The two celebrities discussed the importance of mental fitness and how they cope with stress and pressure in their own way.

Serena revealed that she has always practiced calming down her mind when she feels overwhelmed or anxious. “I did this years ago before mental health was like a topic among everyone’s mind. It was more like alright, I’m shutting myself down today. Just subconsciously something I have always done. I have serious boundaries and I don’t let anyone cross those boundaries,” she said.
Selena Gomez, who has been vocal about her own struggles with mental health, praised Serena Williams for being an inspiration and a role model for many people. While the conversation was part of a series of online chats that Selena Gomez posted on her Instagram account, they made sure that the message reached a wide audience to create awareness.
