23-time Grand Slam winner, Serena Williams, is currently busy with her various off-court investments. Even months later, she is enjoying the success of the film King Richard; a biopic of her father, Richard Williams. Recently, Serena even posted a heartfelt message on social media after King Richard received six Oscar nominations. 

Meanwhile, the 40-year-old champion did a Superbowl commercial for Michelob Ultra. In a recent interview with ET, Serena talked about her new commercial. Interestingly, she also spilled some truth about her retirement from professional tennis.

Serena Williams talks about her retirement

Former World No.1, Serena Williams recently starred in a Superbowl ad with the actor Steve Buscemi. Notably, while promoting her ad, Serena also talked about her retirement plans. With speculations rising and rumors on the run, Serena spoke about how she prepared for the day most fans fear.

“I am prepared for that day, I’ve been prepared for that day for over a decade. So, I’ve always – if you’ve seen King Richard – you know that my dad always said you got to prepare, so I’ve been prepared for that. You know, at the end of the day, I think it’s really important to always have a plan and that’s kind of what I did. I always had a plan,” Williams said.

It seems like the American tennis star is planning her retirement as a true business person. According to Forbes, Serena has invested in 66 startups and launched her own clothing line in 2018. 

King Richard receives 6 Oscar nominations

Undoubtedly, King Richard was one of the best movies of 2021. The movie was already creating a huge buzz after many critics and fan reviews. Yesterday, the Oscars announced the good news that King Richard received 6 nominations including the best picture award. 

Following this triumphant milestone, Serena Williams could not contain her excitement as she posted a beautiful message on Instagram. “I woke up to this. Our film is really nominated for an OSCAR!!!!!!! This is CRAZY!!!!!!! From Compton to Wimbledon to Academy awards. Everyone can dream. And your dream can come true. Ok I am definitely crying this morning. Congrats to the entire film and crew,” Serena wrote.
