Serena Williams and Meghan Markle have shared a strong bond of friendship for a long time. The two have been with each other through each other’s ups and downs. And when Markle was having a rough time owing to the tabloids bashing her for stealing the spotlight, and for Harry to become the most popular royal, passing Queen Elizabeth II. Markle’s friends had planned a little surprise for her.

She was bringing her first child into the world and no media outlet considered her sensitivity. Her friends decided to become her angels and threw her a baby shower.

Talking about the baby shower in the Netflix documentary, ‘Harry & Meghan’, Williams said, “It was just so cool and fun to just like, try to have an intimate moment. I don’t think I understand that there was no intimate moment that one could have.”

But things took a different turn as the baby shower was termed “extravagant” by many well-known media outlets. Markle, pointing out the same, said, “It was so wrong. These independent, strong, successful women choose to use their own money, and it’s not taxpayer money, to throw a party for their friend from a place of love. Why are you taking such a beautiful moment and trying to ruin it?”

Harry and Meghan Markle had become the talk of the town. Especially, their trip to Australia made them the center of attraction. People loved them for their accessibility. However, things took a bizarre turn suddenly. Markle started getting slammed by media outlets for absolutely for unknown reasons. While Kate Middleton was glorified for wearing off-shoulder dresses and eating avocados during her pregnancy, Meghan was termed as “bold” and “insensitive” for the same.

Williams and Markle discussed the stereotypes against ambitious women

Resilience and courage are the two things that are common in both Serena and Meghan. However, the world has had a different perception of ambitious women, and this was the issue that the two discussed in Markle’s first episode of her podcast, “The Misconception of Ambition with Serena Williams”.

Meghan said, “The misconception that if you’re an ambitious women, you have an agenda…and that if you’re that fierce or strong or brave, then you somehow deserve whatever gets thrown at you.”
