The age for rising to stardom in sport is decreasing with each passing day. Ask Coco Gauff, who at the age of 15, won her first WTA title. It was quite a remarkable feat by the American teen sensation who has been constantly on the rise ever since.

Last season, she reached the quarterfinals of the French Open, before losing out to Barbora Krejcikova in the last-eight clash. Additionally, she reached the semifinals of the Italian Open.

Gauff is one of the few players who is active both in singles as well as doubles. In women’s singles, she is ranked 17th, while in doubles she stands at 10th in the world. Recently, the 18-year-old opened up about her future aspirations.

Coco Gauff wants to make a difference
During an interview with Joshua Bassett, Gauff revealed her off-court ambitions. She said, “Oh, definitely want to get into like fashion, I really really enjoy it and try to get into more street-style wear. And then beyond that um just leaving an impact on the world, I don’t wanna be known as just a tennis player. I wanna be known as someone who inspired, someone to wake up or do something um just feeling proud of themselves.”

The American teen sensation has endured a mixed start to the 2022 season. She had a disappointing campaign at the Australian Open, losing in the opening round against Qiang Wang. Further, she endured a similar fate at the Dubai Tennis Championships.

However, she had a memorable tournament in Doha. Gauff reached the quarterfinals in women’s singles at the Qatar Open, the first Masters 1000 of the season on the WTA tour. Additionally, she teamed up with compatriot, Jessica Pegula to clinch the women’s doubles title at the tournament.
