Iga Swiatek has been in roaring form since the Qatar Open. World No. 2, is currently playing in Miami. Today, she defeated the former World No. 2 Petra Kvitova in the quarterfinals to set up a semifinal clash with Jessica Pegula. Being in a destructive form, the win over Kvitova has taken Swiatek on a 15-match win streak. This streak started with Swiatek winning the WTA 1000 Qatar Open, followed by a title at the WTA 1000 Indian Wells.

Iga Swiatek on Petra Kvitova

Petra Kvitova has undoubtedly been a highly successful player on the women’s side. Turning pro in 2006, the 32-year-old has won a total of 26 singles titles in her career, two of which being Wimbledon. Even though the Czech player is struggling to find her vintage form lately, it hasn’t stopped her from displaying her fighting spirit.

Post the match, Iga Swiatek went all heart for Kvitova, appreciating her fighting spirit. and her 16-year-long tour experience. The Polish champion said, ?I really appreciate her (Kvitova) fighting spirit, especially after what she’s been through. She’s on tour for so many years that she has a lot of experience.?

Comparing her confidence level to her old time, Swiatek said,??Right now it became kind of obvious that I’m gonna be strong and I’m gonna run to everything. When I was younger, I had to a little bit force myself to do that, but I got used to it. Right now I feel like pretty confident it’s giving me a lot of skills. It’s great.?

The Polish youngster, looking to take her win streak further, ended by commenting on what was her strongest area during the match. He also opened up on the strategy she used to sail over Petra Kvitova.

?Well, for sure my first serve, and I would say just keeping up with her pace and actually giving back even stronger balls and forcing my opponent to make a little bit more mistakes.?
