Emma Raducanu rose to prominence since her amazing performance at Wimbledon 2021, and then her fairytale run at the US Open. However, following her triumph in New York, she has not been able to maintain her stellar form and as a result, has been inconsistent on the tour.

Being a professional athlete requires a lot of dedication. Given the level at which Raducanu had been playing, there is no doubt, that her training is intensive. But, she faced a lot of flak from his fans, for allegedly not practicing hard enough and rather focusing on sponsorships more.

Emma Raducanu hit back at them, saying “Maybe you just see, on the news or on social media, me signing this or that deal and I feel like it’s quite misleading because I’m doing five, six hours a day (of training), I’m at the club for 12 hours a day. But I throw out one post in the car on the way to practice and all of a sudden it’s ‘I don’t focus on tennis’. I think that it is unfair, but it’s something I have learned to deal with and become a bit more insensitive to the outside noise.”

Eugenie Bouchard sympathises with Emma Raducanu

Eugenie Bouchard, the former top-10 player from Canada has dealt with similar criticism over the course of her career. Now she is trying to make a comeback to the top level, after having grappled with some injury issues. She tweeted in support of Raducanu. Bouchard also indicated that she can relate to the way the teenager is feeling.

Raducanu, who signed several great endorsement deals after her US win also provided detail about her schedule. She said,”I am doing a lot and I’m spending a lot of time at the club. These deals, of course, I’m so grateful for them, but my tennis is my focus. That’s definitely at the front of my head.
