But unfortunately, following the Australian Open 2020, Wozniacki announced her retirement because of rheumatoid arthritis.

The Danish player’s sudden retirement at the tender age of 29 surprised many people. After retirement from the game, she started raising awareness about the disease. Recently, she revealed the nerve-wracking phase of her life where she had to fight through the life-threatening disease along with her husband, David Lee.

Former world number one tennis player Caroline Wozniacki is the face of a worldwide campaign named ‘Advantage Hers’. Advantage Hers was created by the collaboration of a multinational biopharmaceutical company UCB and tennis superstar Caroline Wozniacki.

So in one of her stories shared with ‘Advantage Hers’, she has revealed her toughest journey of fighting a life-ending disease called rheumatoid arthritis. She also went on to explain the difficult phase she went through with her husband, David Lee. “A real ‘hitting home’ moment was waking up in bed and telling my boyfriend (now husband) David that I couldn’t move. I physically couldn’t move. He had to help me out of bed and carry me to the car that day. Even then, I don’t think my family understood just what I was going through,” she said.

She has also explained how she went from being the number one tennis player in the world to receiving a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis; and why she collaborated with UCB to create Advantage Hers for women with chronic inflammatory disorders all over the world.

The day, the match, had to come for Roger Federer and tennis, just as it does for every player in every sport. After a stellar career spanning nearly more than 24 years, he finally bid adieu on Friday night.

There were a lot of wishes pouring in for the 41-year-old from players all around the world on his stellar career. Caroline Wozniacki was also one of them. The Danish star took to Twitter and congratulated Federer, saying, “What an emotional night! One and only @rogerfederer.
