‘I Probably Shouldn’t Have Been Playing’- Serena Williams Says Pregnancy Was a Huge Challenge For Her

Serena Williams is inarguably the biggest female athlete in the world. A 23-time Grand Slam champion, Williams is a household name across the globe.

With nearly 20 corporate partners and multiple investments in businesses, Williams is also a great businesswoman. Apart from this, she also has her own clothing line. Furthermore, she even has a docu-series contract with Amazon Studios.

At the Forbes flagship Under 30 Summit in 2019, Serena spoke about challenges in life, and what her biggest challenge was.

Serena Williams was the first-ever athlete to make it to Forbes’ Self-Made Women’s list. Forbes invited her as a guest speaker at their flagship Under-30 Summit in 2019.

She talked about how her life choices and moral values inform her entrepreneurial decisions. Furthermore, she also talked about the challenges she faced in life and how she overcame them.

“Every day I feel like there’s some challenge that is presented to you and you’re meant to fail it,” Serena said.

Serena opens up about her own biggest challenge, talking about her pregnancy and her subsequent return to the sport. “The whole pregnancy was a huge challenge for me. Just to come back and play after that,” she expressed.

Serena acknowledged how everybody faces their own challenges, in their own ways, every single day in the life. “I think we all are faced with challenges every single day.”

Talking about how she had recently come across a motivational quote, Serena stated how it is imperative to stay strong in the face of adversity.  “(The solution) -it’s just saying, ‘Is that the best you have? Because I can take way more’,” she quoted.

There is no doubt that Serena faced a world of adversity in her rise to the top of the game, much like her sister Venus. She remains and will always be a remarkable and historic figure in the sport.
