‘I Really Work My A** Off’ – Battling Endometriosis, Danielle Collins Gets Real About Her Unseen Physical Struggles

American tennis star, Danielle Collins, did not have an easy tennis career. While she made it to the headlines at the 2022 Australian Open, reaching the summit clash, Collins has been a victim of injuries. As a result, she has failed to perform consistently across the tournaments. However, the 30-year-old is showing signs of promise at the ongoing Miami Open. After having reached the quarterfinal, Collins made an interesting revelation about staying in shape.
The American star is battling Endometriosis and made a shock retirement decision earlier this year. Collins will bid adieu to the sport after this season. Here’s what she had to say about her physical condition.

Earlier this week, Danielle Collins upset the 19th seed, Sorana Cirstea, in the pre-quarterfinals of the Miami Open. Subsequently, she caught up for an interview where she was asked about how she maintains her shape amid her Endometriosis battle. Collins revealed, “I think I’ve definitely improved in some different physical areas and I think putting together some of those physical improvements in myself to do some things technically more sound, I think has been really helpful.”

Further, she went on to add, “So the physical work that I put into my, you know, my day-to-day is like really important and I feel like I spend so much more time and running, you know, most people I really work my a** off, you know fortunately not that many people get to really see that.”
Back in 2021, Collins announced that she had undergone surgery for endometriosis, a condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus begins to grow in other places outside it. It significantly affected her tennis career to the point that she made a saddening revelation about her tennis future earlier this season.

Collins drops retirement bombshell
At 30, the American tennis star still had a few years ahead of her as far as her tennis career was concerned. However, her endometriosis battle had taken a toll on her and she dropped a shocking message about her retirement.
Danielle Collins said, “This is going to be my last season actually, competing… I don’t really know exactly when, but this will be my last season and I’m really looking forward to that.”

The American tennis star will look to have one last laugh before her retirement. She will face Caroline Garcia later today in the Miami Open quarterfinals. It’ll be interesting to see if she can lift the trophy in Miami.
