The United States has produced many tennis players who have gone on to achieve legendary status. From Billie Jean King to Serena Williams, these players have enthralled tennis fans over the years, dishing out some eye-catching performances on the court. Amongst them was Chris Evert.

A former World Number 1, Chris Evert dominated women’s tennis during the 80s and the 90s. During her illustrious career, she has gone on to win an astonishing 18 Grand Slam singles titles. She had a famous rivalry with Martina Navratilova. A few years back, she posted a retro picture on social media.
Chris Evert receives an interesting comment on her retro post
The American legend took to Instagram to share a picture of her donning the 80s fashion. She said, “I did not miss out on the fitness craze of the early 80s… but will say, I stuck with it! Lifelong passion.. ((different fashion!)) #fanfriday”
Subsequently, American alpine ski racer, Lindsey Vonn reacted, saying, “Classic outfit!”

After her successful tennis career, Evert turned her attention to hosting and commentating on events across the globe.

Evert compares tennis nowadays to her playing days
During an interview, Evert opened up about winning the first-ever WTA Tour Finals. She said, “It was a big deal. At that time it was Virginia Slims if I’m correct, and we were busy building a tour. Nowadays, it’s all about the grand slam. It’s really interesting, but in our days it was about how many Virginia Slims tournaments could we win and how we could support the tour so at the end of the year the championships it was a big deal.”

In 1972, Evert defeated Kerry Melville of Australia in straight sets to win the maiden WTA Tour Finals.
