Venus and Serena Williams’ father is no doubt one of the best tennis coaches ever. He molded both his daughters into legends. The 23 times Grand Slam champion Serena and Seven times Grand Slam champion Venus dominated the sport like no other. In fact, there was a time they were the only ones who could hold a candle against each other.

Thus, it won’t be wrong to say that he altered the entire power flow of the WTA. However, what if he had a son who ran parallel to his sisters and dominated the ATP? Here’s a skit performed by the SNL portraying the same.

Andy Roddick and Williams’ negotiation

About nine years ago, Saturday Night Live released a clip of Richard Williams played by Kenan Thompson trying to adopt Andy Roddick so that he could be the father of yet another tennis champion. The skit starts with Richard approaching Roddick and asking for an autograph. He says, “Sign down here where to says adoptee.”

Roddick: “These are adoption papers?”

Williams: “Okay, you got me. I wanna adopt you.”

Roddick: “Well, that’s kind of crazy.”

Williams: “Oh that’s right, that’s right, that’s crazy talk. What would Richard Williams know about raising a tennis champion? What was I thinking?”

Roddick: “Listen, don’t get upset, Mr. Williams, but I am past the legal age of adoption, anyway.”

Williams: “Hey man, legal ain’t everything. Now look, you let me adopt you and see how fast you become no.1.”

“I am no.1,” Roddick responds. Well, all we can say is Roddick already had the experience of training under Rick Macci and if he were to learn Richard’s ways, he would have had a game somewhat similar to the Williams sisters. However, regardless of not being a member of Williams’ family tree, he did make America proud, like Serena and Venus

What are Venus and Serena Williams up to these days?

Starting with the elder sister, Venus, since her comeback in the mixed doubles of the 2022 Wimbledon Championships is looking for her first singles win of this season. The former world no.1 took part in almost the entire American hardcourt swing but suffered an opening-round dismissal in every tournament.

Speaking of Serena, the six times US Open champion, like Venus, returned to the circuit through Wimbledon. However, unlike her, Serena will no longer be present on future tours.
