16-year-old Mirra Andreeva is enjoying a fine start to her Grand Slam career. The youngster confirmed her place in the third round of the 2023 French Open after dominating French wildcard Diane Parry in the second round. Ahead of her match against Parry, Andreeva sat down for a chat with The Tennis Channel and shared her admiration for 19-year-old Coco Gauff. According to Andreeva, who met Gauff in person for the first time at this year’s French Open, the young American has the nicest face she has come across so far in Paris.

Andreeva also showered praises on Tunisian Ons Jabeur, who is one of the favorites to go deep into the tournament. During a press conference, Jabeur faced a question regarding Andreeva and her thoughts on inspiring youngsters like her. While Jabeur’s answer reflected her humility, a part of it also revealed a bit of jealousy at not being praised like Coco Gauff by young Andreeva.

Andreeva’s praise is an ‘honor’, claims Ons Jabeur

During Jabeur’s press conference, a particular question asked her regarding Andreeva’s high praise for her. Jabeur answered, “Well, she’s a cute girl. I’ve been enjoying watching her interviews and the way she was talking about me”. Jabeur went on to say, “It’s an honor that she talks so good about me, even though I wanna make the list of beautiful faces.”

Jabeur also suggested that she looks forward to practicing with Andreeva. “We’ll definitely set up a practice. I heard that she wants to practice”. Andreeva also expressed her desire to serve as an inspiration for other youngsters like Andreeva. “I hope I can continue inspiring others and I wish to also bring that human side of me and the other players on the tour.”

What did Andreeva say about Coco Gauff?

Andreeva cemented her place in the main draw for the 2023 French Open after winning three qualifying matches. Not much was expected from the youngster. However, she proved that she’s a tough nut to crack after overcoming Alison Riske-Amritraj on her Grand Slam debut.

After her stunning debut performance, Andreeva appeared in an interview for The Tennis Channel. During the interview, she revealed how friendly and welcoming 2022 French Open finalist Coco Gauff was towards her. As a result, Andreeva stated that Gauff’s face is “the most beautiful”. Who knows? Maybe next time, Jabeur will get a shout-out for having a beautiful face from Andreeva as well.
