During her illustrious career, Serena Williams has had many notable rivalries on the tennis court, from the likes of Maria Sharapova to Naomi Osaka. However, her most famous rivalry was with her elder sister, Venus Williams.

The two played in some of the most memorable matches of their careers. While Venus dominated the early parts of their rivalry, Serena came back strongly to have a superior head-to-head record against Venus. Of the 31 matches played between them, Serena prevailed on 19 occasions. Earlier in her career, Serena once opened up about playing against her sister.

During an interview, Serena talked about winning more titles than her sister. When asked if she wanted to be remembered as a better player than Venus, she said, “Honest? Jackie get in the bag, girl. Obviously I want to win more than her, but we count them together. I think so. I hope so. How else can we be remembered? To be a part of that is super cool. I mean, we’re the Williams sisters, you know.”

Recently, the former World Number 1 shared a picture of her practice session on the hard court. The hard court was built by her husband, Alexis Ohanian, during the pandemic lockdown, and is an official US Open surface.
