Serena Williams said goodbye to her 27-year-long tennis career at the recently concluded US Open. The 23-time Grand Slam champion performed her last dance in the home-based Grand Slam and hung her racket. Williams’ fare well was tough for her as well as her fans. However, now that she is not tied to the tight schedule of the sport, she is free to enjoy the things that tennis made her miss.

Williams entered the second phase of her life in style. The ace who has strong ties with the entertainment industry used her newly found freedom to attend a concert.

With her head free of tension related to form, and upcoming tournaments, Williams enjoyed some rock music. She alongside her husband Alexis Ohanian payed visit to a Pearl Jam concert. An excited Ohanian, upon having a chance to interact with the lead vocalist of the band, shared a social media post. He wrote, “I was mean-mugging. @pearljam @eddievedder is a legend.”

Thereafter, he added, “The music video for Do The Evolution is my favorite music video of all time. Art by Todd McFarlane.” The couple has many common interests, regardless of their drastically different professional backgrounds.

Serena Williams’ last tournament

Th six-time US Open champion riding high on fans’ cheers entered the hard courts of Flushing Meadows for one last time. At first she locked horns with the former world no.46 Danka Kovinić and took an easy win of 6-3 6-3. Thereafter, she met the former World no.2 Anett Kontaveit in the Arthur Ashe stadium and fought tooth and nails to advance in the tournament.

She, at the expense of the second set, came out victorious against the second seed. However, following that, the Aussie star Ajla Tomljanović stopped her from advancing to the last 16 of the Grand Slam and marked the end of her glorious career.
