Martina Navratilova has been one of the more active tennis players beyond the court. Navratilova has been involved in uplifting the LGBTQ+ community. However, like many people who are a part of the LGBTQ+ community, Navratilova was not sure of her sexuality at first. In her own words, she had many boyfriends when she was young. In a documentary with BBC, Navratilova gave her fans a tour of her teenage coaching grounds and a little more for the intrusive ones.
Navratilova came out first as bisexual in 1981. She said that she was dating a journalist at the time. Later, Martina Navratilova reidentified herself as homosexual and married model Julia Lemigova in 2014.

First, she talked about the court where she hit her first ball and her first serve. While explaining the coaching grounds, Navratilova pointed out the clubhouse. She added that the clubhouse was where she kissed her second boyfriend.

“The middle one, where I hit my first ball on a real court and this one was the first time I put my feet together on the serve. I was right here. Clubhouse is pretty much the same, I kissed my first boyfriend, no second boyfriend, right there in the clubhouse in the locker room,” Navratilova explained to Sue Barker.
The crew later moved inside the clubhouse as Navratilova showed them around. Barker first pointed out the clipboard which had pictures of Navratilova on it. Later, the Czech-American showed the locker room. She added that the locker room is where she and her boyfriend would be intimate. “So this is where I was snogging with my boyfriend,” Navratilova said as she entered the locker room.
