American tennis legend Serena Williams has called her career to an end now after winning 23 Grand Slam titles to her name. There were many occasions when Serena came closer to equaling the record of most Grand Slam titles, which is with Margaret Court (24) currently. However, in the end, she bowed out being second on the list. One such occasion when Serena was very close to equalling the record was in the 2018 US Open.
Serena made it to the finals. But, a coaching violation ruling against Serena infuriated her. It directly affected her game and eventually, she lost to Naomi Osaka.

While Serena disagreed on receiving any help from her coach, Mouratoglou accepted it later. The Frenchman later admitted that he did nothing wrong. Here’s what he said about the incident later.

Serena Williams had a heated argument with the chair umpire Carlos Ramos, who handed over a coaching violation to her. The incident made a lot of fuss later on as the media blew it out of proportion. Reacting to the incident, the Frenchman admitted to coaching and was not sorry about it. “I would do the same tomorrow. Really. 100%. And if I’m penalized again, I think it’s unfair the same way. I didn’t do anything bad. I just did what all the coaches do. “Everybody coaches,” he said.

He further added, “I mean, let’s not say everybody because it’s never everybody, but let’s say 90%. It’s probably more, but let’s say 90. You see that every day on every court. Everybody knows it.”
While Serena’s fans rallied behind her, a few tennis experts expressed their concern over the way she reacted to the situation. Serena later apologized to her opponent, Naomi Osaka, who claimed her first Grand Slam title that day.
