The WTA event at the Madrid Open has already started and we have already witnessed some great matches. Both women’s singles and doubles matches are taking place at the same time. However, there seems to be some kind of drama between two WTA players involving world no.2, Paula Badosa, and 19-year-old Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk. According to the Ukrainian, Badosa proposed to play doubles with her at the Madrid Open. Instead, she played with the Belarusian tennis star Aryna Sabalenka.

Marta Kostyuk is not happy with Paula Badosa
Currently, both Badosa and Marta reached the third round of the Madrid Open in the singles competition. However, the Ukraina tennis star is not too happy with Badosa’s behavior. According to her, the Spaniard promised to play the doubles tournament at the Madrid Open. However, she betrayed her and joined Sabalenka.
“In early March, when we arrived in Indian Wells, it was the first time Paula and I met. She approached me and asked me, how I was, if everything was fine with my family. And that was it. In Indian Wells or in Dubai, I asked her if she would like to play doubles with me because I thought we could do well,” Marta said.

“She said, let’s try to play in Madrid, let’s try somewhere else, but actually I don’t play doubles at all. Then I saw that she was playing doubles with Aryna Sabalenka in Miami and Stuttgart. It really surprised me. I realized I would no longer ask her about playing doubles together,” the Ukrainian further added.
Notably, the pair of Badosa and Sabalenka has not played well in the doubles event. In Stuttgart, they lost in the quarter-final and then lost their very first match at the Madrid Open as well. It is also worth mentioning that Badosa and Sabalenka are really good friends off the court.
