Martina Navratilova is one of the biggest names in the sport. Having an aggressive game, the Czech-American legend dominated the game like no other. However, apart from being a legendary tennis player, Navratilova is also an avid social media user. The 65-year-old uses her social media handles to put forward her views on various topics.

Recently, the official Twitter handle of the US Open revealed what a perfect player would look like in the eyes of Kim Clijsters. Even though many felt that Clijsters’ choice of players is apt in their slots, Navratilova had a slightly different view.

Martina Navratilova offers slight changes to Clijsters’ perfect player combination

A 4-time singles Grand Slam champion and a former World No. 1, Clijsters is well-versed with the strongest parts of every player’s game. Using her experience, the Belgian picked different players to come up with her combination of a perfect player.

As per Clijsters’s combination, she picked legendary players Steffi Graf for forehand and Justin Henin for backhand. Going further, she picked Serena Williams’ serve, Martina Navratilova’s net play, and herself for return. Things seemed fine until this point. However, it was the mental toughness aspect of the player that invited different opinions from the two.

Having witnessed Iga Swiatek‘s dominance since the start of the year, Clijsters opted to pick her for mental toughness. However, Navratilova seemed to have a different take on this. Instead of the Pole, the 18-time Grand Slam champion picked Chris Evert and Monica Seles for mental toughness.

Replying to US Open’s tweet, Navratilova wrote, “Though I would pick Chris Evert or Monica Seles for mental toughness any day:)”

As mentioned earlier, Chris Evert and Monica Seles share a strong friendship with Martina Navratilova. However, apart from being friends, the two were also arch rivals of the Czech-American player in their time.

While Navratilova and Evert played each other 80 times in their career, Navratilova faced Seles 17 times. Looking at the stats, Navratilova leads the head-to-head against Evert while Seles leads the legendary Czech-American star.
