The American tennis legend Chris Evert was well-liked by many people but little-known by others. She was once referred to as the Ice Maiden because of her stern demeanor on the tennis court. But as she has matured, her name has gained a lot of personality. While Martina Navratilova, a close friend of hers, has frequently praised her for being gentle both on and off the tennis court.

Years after displaying a wonderful attitude, a tennis player who has competed against the 18-time Grand Slam champion. Annabel Croft recently recalled Evert’s kind and giving nature by sharing her memories of the period when they used to tour together.

Annabel Croft recalls Chris Evert’s helpful personality 

The 57-year-old former British tennis player recently appeared, on Inside the Mind of Champions podcast. In the podcast, she talked about how Champions are made. And how reaching the top is not only about tennis skills but also a different personality that players need to carry. Along with that,  she revealed that Evert offered to help her during a challenging period.

In addition to that, she reflected on the American tennis legend’s unrelenting compassion and generosity. She recalled how the 18-time Grand Slam champion passed her a note while they were on a tour together. Nevertheless, that reminded her of how the 68-year-old tennis legend was among the most incredibly helpful players on the tennis circuit.

She said, “And of course for me, Chris Evert was my idol. And the fact that she had passed this note back saying, “You know, I still believe in you. And I know you’re going through a really tough time. But if you’d like me to help you with your training or show you what I do. Then I’d love to help you. And I did take her up on it.”

Not only that, she also stated that she will forever be grateful for the fact that she was a world number one tennis player. And someone on top of the field who was actually willing to help the younger tennis players go with a little ease.

In addition, earlier this year, when Navratilova was diagnosed with double cancer. Her good friend Evert was there by her side through thick and thin.

When Evert stood by Navratilova during her rough time?

In an interview with Piers Morgan a few months ago, the Czech-American tennis star revealed that she surrounded herself with positive people close to her.  And one of them was the 68-year-old, while she fought cancer. Furthermore, she deeply appreciated the tennis legend’s support during her battle with cancer.

The 66-year-old tennis legend admitted that she was inspired by Evert’s struggle to overcome cancer. While Navratilova fought cancer valiantly, she was someone who stayed in touch with her via texts and calls. Nevertheless, the 68-year-old continues to steal hearts with her incredible personality, even after spending decades away from the tennis tour.
