While Swiatek has been nominated for the Sportswoman of the Year, Gauff will be eying the Breakthrough of the Year award. However, both these players will face stiff competition from some of the renowned athletes across the globe.

Analyzing Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff’s probability of winning the Laureus Sports Award

Last year, Swiatek won the French Open, her third major title in Paris and fourth overall. Additionally, she won a host of other big titles like the China Open, and finished the year as the top-ranked female player. As a result, she is a potential candidate to be the Sportswoman of the Year.

Swiatek is joined by the likes of Aitana Bonmati, Shericka Jackson, Faith Kipyegon, Sha’Carri Richardson, and Mikaela Shiffrin. While the Polish tennis star has a good chance to claim this honor, the decision could go either way with stars like Shiffrin and Jackson in the fray.

On the other hand, Gauff has been nominated for the Breakthrough of the Year award. Last season, she clinched the US Open title, her maiden Grand Slam victory. Gauff put on a scintillating display in front of her home fans to win the trophy. Along with her success singles, Gauff also played doubles with Jessica Pegula consistently.

Thus, comparing their chances, it looks more likely that Iga Swiatek will be able to win the Laureus award. If she does so, it will be her first Laureus award, having also been nominated in 2021 for the Breakthrough of the Year award.
