Glory seems to be chasing Iga Swiatek as she has kept on conquering mountains one after the other. The Polish WTA pro clinched win after win and therefore completed 22 titles by the end of this season. However, a single incident balanced off her glorious moments in such a way that she was forced to announce it as “The toughest battle” of her life. Amid the ongoing doping saga, many players offered their comments. While some straightaway went against her, others tried to hype her up amidst this period of despair. One such comment emerged lately, which was enough to stuff the WTA star with confidence to fight back.
Conspiracy theories surfaced in a bulk motion online amid Iga Swiatek’s ongoing controversy. Renowned Polish Olympian windsurfer Zofia Klepacka recently stepped forward to offer an unexpected comment on Świątek’s Instagram post. “Iga, someone put something in your blood… There’s big money at stake, be vigilant!” she wrote. Despite these claims, several celebrities, including actors Borys Szyc and Małgorzata Kożuchowska, and athletes have sprung to Świątek’s defense.
Iga Świątek recently faced a challenging situation after trace amounts of trimetazidine were detected in her body. On August 12, a doping test revealed the presence of the banned substance. As further events unfolded, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) provisionally suspended Świątek on September 12. The substance found in her system amounted to just 50 picograms per milliliter of urine. Experts made it clear that this trace amount was too small to provide any performance enhancement.

Świątek explained that she had been using melatonin to help with sleep problems caused by constant travel and jet lag. She was unaware that the medication was contaminated. To prove her innocence, Świątek provided thorough evidence, including her medications, supplements, and even hair samples, for independent testing. These efforts supported her claim, and the ITIA ultimately accepted the contamination explanation. Świątek was cleared of all charges and resumed her career, participating in the WTA Finals in Riyadh and the Billie Jean King Cup in Malaga.

Fortunately, the timing of Świątek’s suspension coincided with the off-season. This allowed her to rest and recover ahead of the Australian Open. While the situation tested her resolve, she is expected to come back stronger. Besides the Olympian, other big names also came forward to back the WTA star.
Coach Wim Fissette opens up on Iga Świątek’s doping controversy
Iga Świątek’s new coach Wim Fissette stepped forward to address the doping controversy surrounding the Polish tennis star. The Belgian coach revealed that he was aware of the situation before he officially joined her team. Speaking about their partnership, Fissette cited the importance of trust from the beginning. “Trust is a foundation of good relationships in our team from the very beginning,” he told The National. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) clarified Świątek’s situation on November 28. The ITIA handed her a one-month suspension after determining she had no significant fault or negligence. The agency confirmed that her positive test was caused by contaminated melatonin pills, which Świątek uses to manage her sleep during frequent travel. This ruling cleared her name and supported her explanation and allowed her to focus on her career.
Fissette expressed his confidence in Świątek’s character and professionalism. He shared that he had observed her for a long time and admired her hard-working nature. “I have been observing her for a long time, her values, her work ethic, her standards. I was confident that she is innocent from the start, so it did not influence my decision about joining the team,” he said. As the coach stepped forward to back his apprentice, fans got to know that the partnership is not just for show but is based on a strong understanding.
