‘I’m Still Under Their Netflix’ – WTA Star Coco Gauff Says Despite Earning Millions, Her Parents Are Still Paying for All of Their Expenses

American tennis star Coco Gauff is among the brightest future prospects in American tennis. With her early success in tennis, she has also achieved financial stability. While there is the prize money Gauff gets from playing tournaments, endorsements and other off-court activities also play a major role in enhancing the financial prowess of the rising star.

It is natural for her fans to assume that after earning millions from cash prizes and endorsements, the player will take up all the financial responsibilities of their family. However, Gauff recently revealed that it is not the case with her. Here’s what she said.

Coco Gauff opened up about how her parents still pay her family’s bills

Gauff recently participated in the San Diego Open, where she made it to the quarterfinals. After winning her first match of the tournament, the 18-year-old interacted with the media. A strange question from one of the reporters was about her bills. Answering the question, the American said without any hesitation that her parents take care of it.

“I actually get texts from my mom because I charge stuff to her account. I’m still on cellphone bill. I’m still under their Netflix. I do pay for Disney Plus… At the house my dad paid, my parents, pay our bills I guess. I don’t even pay for my hair. My mom pays because I don’t carry cash, so I have to get the cash from her,” Gauff said.

She further added, “Some people think like I actually pay for everything in my household and think that my parents are pushing me to do this. I’m like, no. Everything they pay for themselves… The only thing that I pay for is my brother’s Uber eats’ bill because my parents refuse to pay for that.”

Gauff got her athletic genes from her parents

A 15-year-old Coco Gauff caught many tennis enthusiasts’ eyes when she defeated the legendary Venus Williams at the Wimbledon Championships. Although she is still very young, Gauff has come a long way now. However, from the very start, fans could see her passion for the sport along with her athletic prowess she shows on the court.

However, few knew she has got athletic genes from her parents who themselves were into sports. Her mother, Candi Gauff, was a track and field athlete on the Florida State University team, while her father used to play basketball for Georgia State University.
