After the successful completion of the Italian Open 2021, it’s time for the WTA Parma 2021, popularly known as the Emilia-Romagna Open 2021. Fans witnessed a ruthless Serena Williams in the first round as she thrashed Lisa Pigato in straight sets. The final scoreline of the match was 6-3, 6-2.
After a first-round exit at the Italian Open 2021, it was a crucial match for World No. 8 Serena Williams. She didn’t disappoint and delivered a phenomenal performance to seal the match.

Set-1: Serena Williams dominates over Lisa Pigato
Pigato got off to a great start as she broke Williams in the first set. However, she failed to carry forward her momentum as Serena fought back to equalize the scoreline at 1-1. She broke again in the fourth game and then won the subsequent game as well to establish a 4-1 lead over Pigato.

Pigato regained some form back and reduced the margin to 4-2 at the end of the sixth game. However, it was too late for her as Serena struck back in the following game to take her lead to 5-2.

Even though Pigato tried to fight hard, she couldn’t sustain the American legend much. As a result, the World No.8 player didn’t take long and finished the set in the ninth game. She won the set 6-3 in 35 minutes.
Set-2: Game, Set, Match for Williams

Pigato again began the set on a high as she saved 2 break-points in the first game. Therefore, she again established a 1-0 lead over the 23-time Grand Slam champion. However, Williams bounced back yet again and equalized the scoreline.
The American broke in the next game and then won the next-to-next one as well widen the margin to 3-1 at the end of the fourth game. The same story of the last set continued as she broke yet again and was now leading 4-1.

Williams continued her great momentum and won the subsequent game as well. She was now just one game away from entering the second round of the Emilia-Romagna Open 2021. However, she had to fight a little as Pigato won four consecutive points to win the next game and reduce her lead to 5-2.
Serena didn’t take much time after this. With the help of some beautiful serves, she quickly conquered the set 6-2, and thus, won the match.
