Indian Wells 2024: American WTA Star Vents Out Frustration After Getting Snubbed by the Tennis Paradise Once Again

Indian Wells is a tournament where tennis legends and rising stars are ready to go against each other for some unforgettable matches. Tennis giants such as Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Emma Raducanu will be seen competing in the tournament after a long time. Apart from them, while a lot of other players have received wild cards for the event, there is an American tennis player, Sachia Vickery, who got denied for the second year in a row.

Recently, the 28-year-old American tennis player slammed the Indian Wells Masters, for denying her wildcard request, even though she is an American herself. Let’s take a look at what Vickery has to say about the tournament’s decision.

As the tournament is one of the biggest events in America, a lot of tennis players around the world have received a wildcard to become a part of it. While everyone around the globe was getting ready for the same, the 28-year-old American tennis player was denied her wildcard participation. Vickery took to her Twitter account to share her thoughts over getting snubbed by the tennis paradise.

She wrote, “@BNPPARIBASOPEN first American out of the tournament and I was skipped over on the entry list for a wildcard for the second straight year. I’m 3 out, At some point it’s exhausting not having your recent achievements/efforts recognized curious to know how these decisions are made.”

Not only was she unhappy with how, even after trying for 2 years, her request was denied, but she also highlighted how her efforts to do well in other tournaments did not help her gain any recognition as a player. She was recently seen competing at the ATX Open, where she faced defeat in the round of 16 clash against Anna Karolína Schmiedlová.

However, the American tennis star was last seen playing in the Indian Wells tournament back in 2018. Moreover, there are a lot of other tennis players who will be seen in action, after receiving a wildcard.

Indian Wells ready to welcome wildcard entries

After battling injuries for over a year, Rafael Nadal is prepared to make a run at the tournament, A list of players that received a wildcard into the main draw of the tournament has also come to light, and while Raducanu is at the top of the list, other players who will be competing include Karolina Pliskova, a two-time Grand Slam finalist, and Paula Badosa, the 2021 BNP Paribas Open champion.

The seven-time Grand Slam winner Venus Williams and Caroline Wozniacki have also been awarded wildcards into the main event, as they are both eager to make their first trip back to the desert since 2019. The 22-year-old Amanda Anisimova will subsequently be seen competing in the tournament alongside two other Americans, Ashlyn Krueger and McCartney Kessler.
