Another such name is Caroline Wozniacki, a former World Number 1 player, who announced her shock comeback last year after retiring in 2020. Further, she has continued her comeback this year and is playing in the ongoing Indian Wells tournament. However, hours ahead of a big match, a disappointing update has dropped about her.
Caroline Wozniacki is set to face Angelique Kerber in the Indian Wells pre-quarterfinals. Although there is much excitement surrounding this contest, fans are in for a major disappointment.

The former World Number 1 was captured arriving at Indian Wells Tennis Garden limping. She was escorted by her husband and looked to be in distress. This is a major worry coming out from her camp, with the match against Kerber just hours away. With the condition she is in, it is anticipated that Wozniacki may not continue further in the tournament.

It is particularly shocking to note her condition, given that she was 100% fit after her match against Katie Volynets yesterday. However, the Danish star had to dig deep in that match and required three sets to overcome her American opponent.

It is an untimely injury setback for Caroline Wozniacki since she was looking to regain her lost footing this year. She has had disappointing results so far in 2024, with the Indian Wells campaign being her best tournament so far. Earlier this year, she had lost in the second round of the Australian Open.

Wozniacki confident of performing well
Although Wozniacki made a confident start to the Australian Open this year, she couldn’t dig deep in the tournament. During an interview there, she hoped to win a major title soon.

She said, “The dream is to win it obviously, I’ve worked hard to be here, to be back at this stage – I didn’t think I’d be back here. It’s really a bonus, I’m just really grateful to be out here but I really feel like I’m playing well so why not me?”
It remains to be seen how Wozniacki performs this year. However, for now, she will hope that her injury isn’t too serious and she gets back on the court again soon.
