The problems for an ailing Bianca Andreescu just do not seem to end. Her abysmal performance at the Australian Open came as a bruise that turned into a wound after the recent semi-final loss against 22-year-old Marie Bouzkova at a WTA 250 event. 

As if these upsets weren’t enough, the Canadian is now sure to miss the tournaments in the coming week. This will concern the Andreescu camp, which will surely want to put her on the court as much as possible given she’s missed a ton of tennis action over since she won her maiden Grand Slam title.

Bianca Andreescu and the worsening troubles

In a recent update, it became crystal clear that the youngster will follow her pulling out of the Adelaide International event with missing other important events from the calendar year. She is now all set to miss the Qatar Total Open 2021 too.

While both the mentioned events are WTA 500, the most that’ll hurt her is the Dubai Duty-Free WTA 1000. Earlier this year, she had skipped the Grampians Trophy to make herself completely fit for the Australian Open 2021.

Missing so many high-level events might still not reflect poorly on her rankings, but it will surely hamper her chances of a successful comeback from the scary left knee injury. These headlines have raised doubts about the Canadian stalwart’s chances of repeating her US Open 2019 success anytime soon.

What are the surprises that come with this news?

Interestingly, even after 15 months of a gap before her return to the AO 2021, the star can see a jump in her rankings next week. But the topic of concern becomes the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, California.

The event is starting on March 11, and Bianca Andreescu is the defending champion from 2019. She will have 1000 points at stake at this event, and it will be a costly affair to miss out on this one since it gives her an opportunity for a comeback. 

Notably, Bianca has a 4-2 win-loss record so far this year and has played three-setters for three of her wins, one other being a walkover. Earlier in December 2020, she was practicing hard in Dubai for a comeback and had signaled that she was 100% fit. But from the looks of it, achieving that one hundred percent still seems a far-fetched dream for the sensation.
