Iga Swiatek moves swiftly to match yet another record of Serena Williams

The world no. 1 Iga Swiatek rose to the top of the WTA realm with her swift performance on the court swiping away title after title. Now, with three Grand Slam titles under her name, Swiatek is not bowing down. The Polish player has once again challenged herself to match the level of tennis legend Serena Williams.

Last year she broke Williams’ record of 34 match winning streak after winning 37 matches in one go. In a new statistic found out by Opta Ace, Swiatek has won 67 matches in 2022 and 49 in 2023.

This brings the total to 116 matches, making her the first since Angelique Kerber (2015-2016) to do so in a two-year span. If she continues her winning streak, she can become the first woman since Serena Williams (2013-2014) to win 117+ matches matching her record.

However, to completely match the record of the tennis legend, Swiatek will have to get 130 victories under her name before the end of this year.
