When it was first noticed, the tattoo written in Hindi had become the talk of the town. The Russian player bid farewell to tennis in 2020, but before that, she made sure to mark her name on the list of modern-day greats.
Maria Sharapova’s ‘Jeet’ tattoo
The 5-time Grand Slam champion started her journey in tennis by overcoming several difficulties. Sharapova understood early in her life the sacrifices that her passion would demand. She got a tattoo behind her neck that depicted the life she led. It was the Hindi word ‘Jeet’ meaning ‘win’ or ‘victory’.

The player has clinched 36 singles titles during her almost 2-decade-long career. On the court, she shared a classic rivalry with 23-time Grand Slam champion, Serena Williams. Even though the H2H is in the favor of Serena Williams by a ratio of 20-2; she proved to be tough competition for the American player throughout their rivalry.

The Russian superstar welcomed her first child, a baby boy, Theodore, with her fiance Alexander Gilkes. After her retirement, Sharapova is now focused on raising her child, along with expanding her business ventures.
