She also became the first Chinese player to be crowned with the no.1 ranking on doubles section. Known to have developed a fighting spirit at a very young age as she underwent heart surgery in order to play tennis at the highest level.

In her two-decade long career, Shuai managed to claim 22 doubles titles along with two singles titles.Peng has a unique style of play, wherein she employs a double-handed forehand, which is almost rarely seen on both the tours.

Looking at the personal life of the Chinese player, Peng was born on January 8th, 1986 in Xiangtan, Hunan. Her first introduction to the sport came through her uncle, who is a tennis coach himself.

In 2001, Shuai began her career and started playing top-notch tennis as a teenager. After back-to-back victories at the ITF level, the Chinese player took a while to settle herself amidst the growing competition on the WTA tour.
