Aryna Sabalenka has made it to the finals of the US Open after taking down the hopes of an all-American final. The Belarusian player took down Madison Keys in a tough three-set match to secure a place in the finals. However, the nerves were high resulting in Sabalenka celebrating a little early emulating her to-be opponent Coco Gauff during her match. Sabalenka later disclosed what went through her mind while the hilarious mishap happened.

However, if it ends well, all is well. The Belarusian tennis player had a comparatively easy ride till her face-off with Madison Keys in the semi-finals of the US Open. Taking down every opponent in straight sets, the semi-finals was indeed a nail-biting match. Maybe that was the reason the celebration of victory came even before its declaration.

High on nerves and facing a tough competitor, Sabalenka slipped to make a hilarious mistake before she was declared a winner. The Belarusian tennis star made an embarrassing mistake as she celebrated too early in the final set. In the heat of the moment, she forgot that the Grand Slam goes for a 10-point tie-break in the final set.

She stated, “I thought it’s up to 7. I don’t know.” Confessing her nervous state of mind, she added, “I was just all over the place. It was crazy.”

However, her team humbled her soon right after she started celebrating and she picked up her racquet to play the match again. She added, “Thanks team for reminding me that it’s up to 10.”

Interestingly, Sabalenka is not the only person who has encountered such a moment. Her to-be opponent at the finals of the US Open, Coco Gauff too went through a similar instance during her doubles run.

When Gauff celebrated too early 

The 19-year-old tennis sensation is making news all over the world with her astounding performance on the court this year. However, that does not mean she can not innocently make a slip here and there.

During her first-round doubles match, she and Jessica Pegula were close to victory. However, in a moment of nerves, Gauff celebrated a game early and went on to hug Pegula. However, her partner reminded her that they still had to go one more game. Later on, Gauff took to Twitter to confess that she had forgotten the score.
