Venus Williams thinks Serena’s win was unfair

At the Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast, available on Spotify, Venus was asked about how she dealt with playing against her sister. Referring to the Australian Open in 2017 when Serena beat Venus in the final, Venus had a funny dig at her younger sister.

Venus jokingly recalled how she is still lobbying for that match to be declared ‘unfair’ as it was later revealed that Serena was pregnant at the time of the match. Thus, Venus insists that she was technically playing against two people!

In the podcast, Venus was also asked what it was playing against her older sister in such high-stake matches.

She replied, “And you just got to realize it is a moment and years from now you want to just know that you gave your best regardless of if it was your sister or not. Because you don’t get those moments all the time. Even as many times as I’ve had that moment, and she’s had that moment, those moments are still special every time so you have to treat it that way no matter who it is. And if you can just see it as a game then. It’s a lot simpler,” he said.
