Aryna Sabalenka’s love for pasta and pizza is no secret to anyone. Whether it’s a defeat or a victory, Sabalenka tries to keep her favorite dish by her side. Unlike on-court, where she never fails to baffle the audience with her powerful strokes, while on off-court, a conversation regarding food bewildered her in Rome!
After having a successful run at Madrid Open, Aryna Sabalenka is once again showing her prowess in Rome, a place she loves wholeheartedly. There, she had already reached the Round of 16. Naturally, after her latest victory, she remained in good spirits during an interview with the Tennis Channel. However, when asked, “What’s the dish of choice for the week so far?”, her response added a hilarious twist to the story.
“Pasta,” she responded with a chuckle. “If I could eat pizza I would eat pizza every day. But I need something, a little bit healthier,” Saba added. The Belarusian player who admitted a few days ago in Madrid that she was ready to “eat pasta, pizza, and a lot of ice cream” now seems to have a different perspective. However, unknowingly, her next sentence proved that maybe she was not yet ready to let go of pizza. The 26-year-old continued and said, “So I go for Pizza ohh pasta, F**k(beep).”

She immediately turned her face away in disbelief that she had uttered an expletive. And it was followed by a lighthearted moment of laughter from her as well as the interviewer who said, “Let it go, Aryna. Let it go”. Soon, realizing her mistake, she explained, “I was holding myself so good and I screw up at the end. I get so excited when you talk about food.” However, recovering from this, the Australian Open champion further added the kind of pasta she would like to prefer. “I would go for Carbonara with truffle or the spicy red pasta, with meat. Oh that’s good.”

Her love for sauce indeed captured attention a few days ago during an interview in Madrid as well. After she kept her hands on her arm over her t-shirt throughout the interview, later on, she revealed, “It’s uncomfortable for me to stand like that, I stained my T-shirt with olive sauce”. However, apart from pasta sauces, last year she declared the best pizza place according to her.
Aryna Sabalenka’s best pizza place hunt came to an end in Miami
In 2023, although she did not win the Miami Open, she found her best pizza place and restaurant there. Sabalenka, while preparing for the WTA Finals of last year, was spotted enjoying a great time off the court in Miami in October.

She posted Instagram pictures with entrepreneur David Grutman and Belarusian tennis player Andre Vasilevski, who has previously accompanied her in various Miami-based restaurants and nightclubs. However, what made these pictures more memorable was that she took them with all her fans and workers at the restaurant. She captioned it as “This was so good. The best pizza place in Miami.”
Nonetheless, even after her defeat against Iga Swiatek in the Madrid Open this year, she added that going to Rome will be her ultimate recovery as she will get to have, “pizza, pasta, and all Italian food.” While Aryna Sabalenka continues her prowess on the court, we all hope her love for pizza and pasta strengthens her more off the court.
