Coco Gauff stepped into the WTA Finals in the hopes of winning another major tournament. Her US Open victory put her on a winning streak, which ended in the China Open. She aimed to revive a streak in Cancun and win the tournament, but she was ousted by her doubles partner, Jessica Pegula, in the semifinal. Now, after her exit, she has stated that her dream is to take it a step ahead in the next WTA Finals and clinch the big trophy.

Despite her losses, Gauff’s improvement was stark in this season’s Finals. Last year, she was unable to claim victory in any match and looked to turn it around this year, a feat she accomplished easily.

Gauff aimed to compete in the WTA finals to rid herself of the memories of the 2022 finals. She did so in spectacular fashion and went on to play in the semifinal. She was eliminated just before the finals, showing her improvement from the last few months. After her exit, she stated that it would be a dream for her to win the WTA Finals one day.

As per Cancun press, she said, “It would be cool to win it. To be honest, as a kid, I always dreamt of winning Grand Slams. I think as I’ve grown as a pro on tour, I learned more about what the WTA Finals is about. I’d definitely say that would be a goal of mine now, after competing in it for 2 years & realizing this is the best of the best. I do think I can improve. It would definitely be a dream.”

Although it is her dream to win the year-end tournament one day, she said that she chose slams over the finals. “If I had to choose, I’d rather win another Slam. But it’s definitely a dream. I think this tournament is one of the most challenging. Not only because it’s the Top 8, but because it’s the end of the season.”

With three victories, Gauff was able to establish a new run in the Finals. She shared a dream of hers for next year, which has added to the dream she has with partner Jessica Pegula.
