Eugenie Bouchard is a true sports fan! Apart from being a tennis player herself, she has keen interests in pickleball, basketball, soccer, ice hockey, and even baseball. Did we miss out on anything in the list of likings for this Canadian superstar? Perhaps not! Although currently, she has become more infrequent on the WTA Tour, her desire to be in the headlines is still the same. Recently, she was spotted making her presence felt at the Yankee stadium in a stunning look in an all-black outfit. However, this time she came to the headlines for a different reason. She recently shared a terrifying experience from her recent visit to this iconic stadium. What was it, though?
Eugenie Bouchard traveled all the way to NY, to watch a match between the Yankees and the Dodgers at the MLB World Series. Although the Yankees won that match by 11-4, there was a moment that raised a bit of concern among the fans in the stands. One of those concerned fans was this Canadian tennis star.
Reflecting on an unfortunate incident that took place during that match, Eugenie Bouchard put a post on her IG story. She wrote, “Ok crazy time: a foul ball comes our way, people scramble, it’s mayhem, and it ends up literally next to my shoe. I pick it up, yay! My first World Series game even and I catch a foul ball!” However, her joy was cut short a bit when she came it know that it had hit a lady on her face. Further explaining the horrific moment, Bouchard added, “Then I realize there is chaos in the row in front of us. It turns out the ball ricocheted off a poor lady’s face. It got her in the eye, she is bent over, totally swelling and bleeding profusely, and she can’t stand up.“

However, she assured her fans on social media that, “The medics arrive thankfully immediately to carry her out. I manage to take a pic with my ball then I hand it to her on her way out.” Why did she hand the ball to that lady, though? “If it possibly broke a bone in her face, she deserves it more than me,” said Bouchard. She also said that she didn’t catch that lady’s name but she wished her a quick recovery through that social media post.
Is it the first time we’re seeing Eugenie Bouchard attending a baseball match, though? Well, the answer is no! Even almost ten years ago, Bouchard proved that she was not only talented with tennis balls, but baseballs too! She was spotted at the Yankee Stadium in 2014 and guess what? Even that time she had managed to snag not just one foul ball, but two of them. Later on, she even shared that moment with her fans on social media by captioning, “Caught 2 balls haha @yankees,” in a post.

Then even in 2022, she was spotted attending a match between New York Yankees and Cincinnati Reds. A year after that, she was seen at the Citi Field and she shared a few glimpses from her trip to the baseball match and captioned those photos with, “Ball game.” After seeing all these posts, fans may wonder: Is baseball, Eugenie Bouchard’s new-found love? Well, she’s a sports lover, and that’s the only answer to this question.
