Jennifer Capriati opened up about Lindsay Davenport’s “false and defamatory” statement about his father

Jennifer Capriati is someone who has maintained quite a private life and even stays away from social media such as Twitter or Instagram. But in a recent conversation, she and Brett Connors talked about iconic tennis and how they missed them at the tournament, but at the same time, she might have also said something that didn’t sit well with Capriati regarding her father’s involvement in her tennis career.

Looking into that, after hearing Davenport’s not-so-funny take, she took to her Twitter account to share her disappointment over the same. She wrote, “I grieve my father’s passing to this day, and to hear his memory and character be assassinated and compared to Pierces, Dokics father is outrageously false, and defamatory. @LDavenport76, I’ve heard this several times now, and it’s shockingly hurtful and false.”

Even though she had avoided Twitter, tennis fans were taken aback that she jumped on the popular site merely to support her father—and bash another American WTA star. Subsequently, she also brought Jelena Dokic and Mary Pierce, into the conversation regarding their bond with their fathers.

Not only that, but there have been a lot of instances in which Stefano Capriati has headed the worst fathers of tennis players list, in such a way that he knew what went wrong during his daughter’s tennis career.

What was Jennifer Capriati’s father like?

Stefano Capriati personified the “pushy parent” stereotype with his unheard-of level of parenting in the world of professional tennis. Notable for his tough tactics, Capriati gained attention for forcing his 13-year-old daughter into the competitive arena.

His harsh teaching methods were mostly directed at his daughter, Jennifer Capriati, earning him a reputation as a dominant player in the tennis world. This fame reached its height in 2002 when Jennifer was famously left off the Fed Cup squad, mainly because her father didn’t follow the rules and restrictions that the organization had established. At the same time, he also knew that it was his pressure, which created a lot of chaos, surrounding his daughter’s tennis career.
