Facing one’s bullies head-on feels like an intimidating task, however, Lemigova sees things through a different lens. She said, “Whenever I would be in a situation where somebody would attack me or say something nasty to me, my reaction would be the same as if somebody would hurt my children or my animals, or my friends…. I am unstoppable…. So, then why can’t I defend myself?”

Lemigova on prioritizing oneself with the power of self-love

Avoiding bullies is usually how most people go about it. No one feels like going through the hassle of dealing with them. On the other hand when a loved one is attacked one might rise in defense. Lemigova suggests dealing with bullies in the same way if they are threatening one as one would if family or friends were bullied.

Understanding why it is difficult to take a stand for oneself, she stated, “It takes some self-practice and just think how to love yourself and through that self-love, you can then be stronger.”

Conclusively, she said, “Don’t let the bullies get ahead just cut their oxygen… you’ll never feel bad defending yourself. You may just regret not doing it sooner.” It is not just Lemigova who deals with her haters like this. Her partner, Martina Navratilova takes the same approach when someone tries to insult her.
