Ons Jabeur has high hopes for Karim Benzema
Real Madrid yesterday wrote their name in the history books. The Spanish club outplayed Liverpool FC to win their record 14th UEFA Champions League. While Karim Benzema didn’t score in the match, he was one of the prominent contributors. The 34-year-old scored a total of 44 goals and 15 assists in the 2021-22 season.

Following Real Madrid’s win yesterday, Ons Jabeur took to Twitter, giving a suggestion to the soccer world. The Tunisian player asserted that Karim Benzema should be considered for the most prestigious award in the soccer world, the Balon d’Or.

The 2022 season so far for Jabeur
Jabeur kicked off her year in Sydney as the World No. 10. At the Australian Open, she reached the quarterfinals. However, a back injury forced her to withdraw from the tournament. After her comeback, she reached back-to-back quarterfinals in Dubai and Qatar. Even though she suffered early round exits in the Sunshine Double, she made a strong comeback in the clay-court season.

Jabeur kicked off her clay-court campaign by reaching the finals in Charleston. Going ahead, she next reached the quarterfinals in Stuttgart. Being in strong form, she went on to win in Madrid and come out as a runner-up in Rome. Considering her successful run on the clay-court tournaments, she became one of the top contenders for lifting the Suzanne-Lenglen cup. However, things did not go as planned, as she suffered a first-round loss.
