The American WTA sensation, Madison Keys, has recently grabbed eyeballs for another phenomenal run at her home major tournament, the US Open. During her stellar campaign in New York, the 28-year-old has defeated some of the big guns, including the reigning Wimbledon champion, Markéta Vondroušová, and the third seed Jessica Pegula. In doing so, the former world No. 7 has now advanced to her sixth semifinal in a Grand Slam event.

Madison Keys gets candid about her ‘lost-identity’ in the tennis community

Despite facing a heartbreaking round of 16 defeat at the hands of her compatriot, Jessica Pegula was singing the praise of Keys. In her post-match press conference, the 29-year-old candidly opened up about how her American colleague is not getting “enough credit” and attention despite having a runner-up and five semifinal appearances at Grand Slam events.

In light of Pegula’s emotional assertions, Keys was recently questioned about whether she feels neglected by the tennis community. “Honestly, it’s been great. I love that none of you talk about me anymore,” the American said in her press conference after her quarterfinal victory against Vondroušová.

In her cheeky yet heartfelt response, Keys asserted that she is enjoying her ‘lost identity’ status, as she doesn’t necessarily have to deal with a lot of off-court things, including press requests. She said, “It’s a lot off of my plate. I kind of just come in and leave and no complaints.”

“So (if) you guys want to keep not talking about me, more than happy,” Keys further went on to say. The American tennis star might be getting neglected by the tennis realm, however, she has once again stunned everyone at the US Open. After her fierce quarterfinal clash, another big challenge now awaits the former world No. 7 player.
