Venus Williams, after being absent for a long time this year, is now back on tour. With the aim of setting fire to her Wimbledon opponents, Williams is currently competing in the Birmingham Classic. She won her first-round bout against Camila Giorgi, but not before Giorgi seemingly celebrated at Williams falling down. The display of elation was not well received by Martina Navratilova, who left an angry comment on a Twitter post.

Along with Navratilova, fans of Queen V were also mad at the Italian player. As the matter came to light, tennis fans did not mince their words as they were angered by Giorgi’s scream of celebration at Williams’ fall.

As Venus Williams was leading in the first set by 4-3, she was on track to claim it. But in the eighth game, Williams rushed to pick a shot on her forehand side and slipped, even losing her racket in the process. Giorgi hit the ball back and yelled in triumph as Williams tried to recover. The display of Giorgi surprised and angered the tennis community.

Rennae Stubbs, former coach of Serena Williams, also expressed herself on social media criticizing Giorgi’s passionate celebration after winning the point.”Camilla Giorgi just yelled Si when @Venuseswilliams just fell over and screamed! I mean wtf !!! I honestly think that could be the lowest moment of her career!!!! And you NEVER want to see this face coming at you now! Come on Vee!,” Stubbs wrote, mentioning the angry face of Venus Williams she shared as a video on the post.

Martina Navratilova was livid at the Italian player. She also stated that Giorgi deserved to lose if the events transpired in such a manner. She wrote, “Serves her right- Venus kicked her b**t anyway!!! How disgusting from Giorgi if that is how it happened.”

Queen V fans angry at Camila Giorgi

As the video of the incident went viral, fans were not happy about Williams’ opponent celebrating her fall. Several mocked Giorgi for the yell and even stated their astonishment. Tennis followers know her as a silent player, and then for her to yell in such a manner chuffed many. Some also went as far as calling Italian number 3 ‘evil’.

While the events shocked many, Williams winning the match and continuing her stint became a reason to forget it.
