Coco Gauff still haunted by crowd gasps

The 19-year-old stunned everyone when she won the Cincinnati Masters this year in domineering fashion. Gauff was not a favorite for the title after a bad start to the year and bad form persisting. But she turned it around in the American hard court season and won her first Masters and later, her Grand Slam title. Despite the spectacular success, one moment from her Cincy run haunts her to date.

During a match, she served the ball and received a backhand return, which she hit far into the cross court. Her rival reached for the shot somehow but could not hit a good return. With the ball high, Gauff prepared for a smash, a confirmed winner.

But she goofed up a little as her shot hit the top of the net before winning her the point. Witnessing the ball hitting the net, the crowd gasped, and Gauff laughed. She shared the video of the moment on her Instagram story with the caption, “This is old, but the gasps are killing me 😂“.
