On October 8, Dokic took a moment to address the conjectures surrounding her relationship and shared a post on her IG handle. This time, though, she came out with a clarification while highlighting media headlines hinting at her breakup with Veselinov. Taking a direct dig at various news outlets spreading false information, she stated, “One day we are engaged, the next we are broken up and then we are married and then we are broken up again. I can take it and I am used to it but that doesn’t mean it’s ok and that I should and that others will feel the same and not be affected.”

She continued, “You never know how you might affect someone and especially their mental health especially when it comes to personal things like relationships which you actually know nothing about and are 100 percent wrong about what you write.” Her post featured snippets from different websites’ articles and their titles regarding Dokic’s rumored breakup.

The ex-WTA pro reiterated that her previous post had nothing to do with a break-up. Lastly, she made it crystal clear that “me and my partner are very much in love.” But it is not the first time Dokic has criticized news websites. Especially when it comes to spreading misinformation.

When Jelena Dokic slammed media outlets of the Land Down Under

Earlier this season during the Australian Open, Jelena Dokic ended up bashing different media platforms. She was on commentating duties in Melbourne while taking player interviews after their matches. But one specific interaction didn’t go well.

It all began with her post-match interaction with Iga Swiatek who beat Rebecca Sramkova in the second round. Apart from her winning performance, Dokic asked the six-time slam winner about her stay in Australia. Being curious, she asked the Pole about her coffee taste while being in Melbourne.

Swiatek, however, came up with an honest reply. “Oh well I gotta say in Sydney I found some better coffee shops,” said the Polish star. Her answer left Melbourne fans annoyed. But then she quickly tried to correct herself, sensing that her response wasn’t pleasing to locals. “No no no, guys the thing is that it’s not easy for me to fall asleep so during a grand slam I’m kind of you know, my coffee level needs to be a bit lower,”

Making up for her initial answer to Dokic’s question, she told, “Overall in Australia, it’s hard to get wrong coffee.” Later, local star Alex De Minaur was also asked a similar question. But he chose to be neutral given how things went with Swiatek. He didn’t side with a specific place between Melbourne and Sydney for coffee. “Look I better keep this amazing crowd on my side.”

However, Dokic later felt that this lighthearted conversation took an unnecessary negative turn. And that it happened due to media outlets spreading wrong information.Defending Swiatek over her coffee preferences, Jelena Dokic added, “You are calling funny moments ‘awkward’ and you have made the world number two sound ‘awful’ and like she should be hated because she made a joke about Melbourne coffee.” Concluding her furious response, she urged websites to stop spreading false information and to not take things out of context.
